Body:
What a wonderful spring evening — a little windy, but nothing brutal. Temps were just about perfect. Everything’s exploding into green over the past ten days — grass, trees, fields — it’s like the prairie flipped a switch.
Tonight I saddled up on my touring rig, The Green Mile — my 2020 Surly Long Haul Trucker. She’s a big ol’ bike, built like a tank. Slows me down a bit compared to my gravel bike, but she rides like a Cadillac. Big tires, long frame — not nimble, but super comfortable. Great for taking in the scenery and chewing up miles.
End Song:
“That’s All”
Band: Genesis
Year: Early to mid ’80s
Music Note:
Let’s talk about Phil Collins for a minute. He dealt with some heavy stuff — alcoholism, diabetes — but he kept showing up. His son, Nic Collins, has followed in his footsteps as a drummer. Phil originally sat behind the drums for Genesis, but when Peter Gabriel left in the mid-‘70s to go solo, Phil stepped up as the front man and kept drumming. That takes grit. His solo career took off in the early ’80s, and the guy just never stopped.
Another evening well spent — legs turning, mind clearing. Till the next ride
